- Introduction
In decentralized ecosystems, where public trust is built on transparency and accountability rather than corporate branding, even the smallest visual markers can carry immense weight. This proposal urges the World Liberty Financial (WLFI) core team to apply for and secure the GOLD badge on the official @worldlibertyfi X (formerly Twitter) account.

Cases of Users Getting Hacked
Multiple anecdotal cases indicate that unsuspecting users have been lured into phishing scams by fake Twitter accounts mimicking WLFI. These malicious actors often use similar handles, stolen media assets, and fabricated announcements. One such user reported that after interacting with a bogus βWLFI airdrop supportβ handle, they approved a smart contract that drained their wallet of over $1,400 in USDC. -
Example of Fake Accounts
Below are images of known impersonator accounts, some of which remain online and are still collecting engagement from new users unaware of the deception. These accounts copy branding, post timed replies under WLFIβs official tweets, and redirect to fake sites.

Why Having the GOLD Tag Is Good
Unlike the standard blue check, the GOLD badge is reserved for official organizations. It not only enhances visibility but acts as a strong, algorithmically prioritized trust signal in all public engagements, comments, and reposts. When users encounter tweets from WLFI, they will be met with an immediate assurance that the post comes from the legitimate entity. -
Benefits
Protects Retail Users: Gold tag lowers the risk of user confusion and wallet exploitation.
Strengthens Institutional Trust: Organizations and funds evaluating WLFI will instantly recognize its verified status, reducing due diligence friction.
Improves Media Credibility: Future press coverage and resharing will include a visible authority tag.
Community Morale Boost: Signals active governance and responsiveness to safety issues raised by early adopters.
Low Cost, High Impact: In terms of time and capital, securing the gold tag is inexpensive.
- Funding
We propose that this cost be covered either:
Initiation: The WLFI core operations team or designated communications lead shall apply for the GOLD badge
Authorization: Funding should be drawn from the WLFI Treasury or Community Ops Budget, pre-approved by governance or through an expedited vote if necessary.
Ongoing Accountability: A quarterly check-in should be scheduled within the forum or Discord to confirm continued relevance, cost-effectiveness, or explore a cheaper alternative if offered by X.
In the event that treasury access is unavailable, we recommend temporarily allocating funds from a multisig-controlled community emergency security fund with a reimbursement request submitted in parallel to the main treasury.
- Voting
Voting Options (Recommended Format):
YES β Authorize $1,000/month from WLFI treasury to secure and maintain GOLD badge
NO β Do not proceed at this time
ABSTAIN β No opinion / defer to core team discretion
- Conclusion
Let this be a test case that proves our decentralized process works, even for the things that might seem small on the surface, but matter greatly when trust is on the line.
